Information generated recently points out that spermicidal gels used during vaginal ultrasounds and IUI could interfere with sperm survival and affect negatively the IUI response and onset of pregnancy. It is therefore recommended that when ultrasound transmission gels are used during vaginal ultrasound prior to the performance of IUI, that non-spermicidal gels should be employed.
